Who makes the city.
Wie maakt de stad. Making Almere.

‘Who makes the city?’ is the central question during the Architecture Festival Making Almere. Making Almere is a unique exhibition in Almere, a Dutch New Town near Amsterdam. The city was once the prototype of the ‘make-able’ city and society. Now, it has once again become a city that wants to explore boundaries with a new and exciting form of urban development. Making Almere studies who made the city in the past, who makes it now, and who will make it in the future.

Making Almere was part of the 5th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR) 2012 with the theme ‘Making City’ and made possible by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment (RRAAM), the municipality of Almere, Almere City Marketing and many other local organizations. Making Almere is the second Architecture Festival in Almere.

'Who makes the city' is a publication of the International New Town Institute (INTI) for Almere’s second architecture festival Making Almere, a satellite exhibition of the 5th International Architecture Biënnale Rotterdam, 2012.
